Kendra Timmerman Named a Dimmitt Scholar at Morningside College

Kendra Timmerman, daughter of Connie Van Bruggen of George, Iowa, and Dale Timmerman of Sibley, Iowa, was named a Dimmitt Scholar at Morningside College in recognition of high academic distinction for the 2011-12 academic year.

Timmerman, a junior who is majoring in mathematics teaching and elementary education, is a past graduate of George-Little Rock High School.

Dimmitt Scholars must be full-time students who have completed at least 45 credits of college work with a cumulative grade point average between 3.50 and 3.75. The award is named in honor of the late Lillian Dimmitt, who served as a teacher and administrator at Morningside College for more than 60 years.

Morningside College enrolled 2,047 full-time and part-time students for the 2011-12 academic year and welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds. Morningside offers five bachelor's degrees, including bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music, bachelor of music education, and bachelor of nursing, and a master of arts in teaching career. The college was founded in 1894 by the Methodist Episcopal Church and remains affiliated with the United Methodist Church today.
